Young Engineers eConsultation

The Innovation, Universities, Science and Skills Committee would like to find out what young people think about engineering. The Committee would particularly like to hear how schools, colleges and universities have prepared you for, or shaped your attitude towards, a career in engineering.

The Committee recently took evidence from a panel of young people as part of its engineering inquiry and we were very interested in their views and experiences. We would like to hear from more young people before writing our report. We recently ran an engineering employers web forum to find out what employers thought about the state of UK engineering and received a number of interesting posts about the training of young engineers.

Our report will include the findings of our inquiry and make recommendations to the Government about action it should take in relation to engineering and careers in engineering. It would be helpful if you could indicate how old you are and whether you are at school, university, college or a young professional in your post. This web forum will close on 9 December 2008.
